The Climachx mountain bike trail is situated near the village of Ceinws within the spectacular landscape of Dyfi Forest.
This 15 kilometre, red-graded trail is known for its singletrack and final descent.
The trail is managed by Dyfi Mountain Biking, a local community group, and is easy to find from the A487.

All our mountain bike trails are waymarked from start to finish and have been graded for difficulty.

Climachx Trail
- Grade: Red/Difficult
- Distance: 15 kilometres
- Climb: 450 metres
- Time: 1-2 hours
The Climachx Trail may be short, but it packs a punch bigger than its length would suggest.
The final descent, ‘Tony the Tiger’, is the highlight - natural feeling singletrack with technical rocky sections, drop offs, rock slabs and the scary left hander before the final switchback descent.
Dyfi Mountain Biking
The Climachx Trail is looked after and managed by Dyfi Mountain Biking, a local community group
Dyfi Mountain Biking is a community interest company formed by volunteers to continue to develop, promote and protect facilities for mountain biking in the Dyfi area.

Dyfi Forest
Ceinws is within Dyfi Forest.
Situated between the towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau, Dyfi Forest lies in the shadow of Cadair Idris.
The woodlands cling to the steep hillsides of the Tarren and Dyfi mountain ranges cut through by the Dysynni, Dulas and Dyfi rivers heading west to the nearby sea.
The whole area was once filled with thriving slate mines, employing hundreds of people.
The finished slate was moved to the coast via a system of tramways and steam trains for export.
The remaining trains now carry holidaymakers through the countryside.

Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park
Most of Dyfi Forest is in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.
Eryri s the largest National Park in Wales and is home to picturesque towns and villages and the highest mountain in Wales.
It is looked after by the Eryri National Park Authority.

National Forest for Wales
Dyfi Forest forms part of the National Forest for Wales.
The National Forest will:
- create areas of new woodland
- enhance existing woodlands
- restore Wales’ irreplaceable ancient woodlands.
In time it will form a connected ecological network running throughout Wales, bringing social, economic and environmental benefits.

Sometimes we need to close or divert trails for your safety whilst we undertake maintenance work or other operations.
We may have to close a site in extreme weather, such as high winds or snow and ice, due to the risk of injury to visitors or staff.
Please always follow any instructions on site and any temporary diversion signs.

Location
Ceinws is 4½ miles north of Machynlleth.
It is in the county of Powys.

The OS grid reference for the parking area at the start of the Climachx Trail is SH 760 063.
Directions
Take the A487 from Machynlleth towards Dolgellau.
After approximately 4 miles turn right signposted towards Ceinws.
Cross the stone bridge and follow the road around to the right.
Follow the blue parking area signs to the car park.

The nearest mainline railway station is in Machynlleth.

Car parking is free of charge.
Overnight parking is not permitted.
