Call for residents in the Usk and Glasfynydd forests areas to give their views on new forest management plan

Residents in the area of the Usk and Glasfynydd forests near Llandovery are being encouraged by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to give their views on a new plan to manage the forests.

NRW - who manage the Welsh Government Woodland Estate across Wales - are holding a public consultation to allow the views of residents to influence the future management of the forest for the next 10 years and beyond.

Brian Hanwell, Senior Land Manager for NRW said:

"It’s important that the forests we manage provide many benefits. From timber production and recreation, to fighting the climate and nature crises we all face, we need the views of local people on our plans to make sure they chime with their wishes and priorities.

“We urge residents to have a look at the plans and to have their say on them.”

Residents can find the plans and respond to the consultation by visiting NRW’s consultation website on: https://ymgynghori.cyfoethnaturiol.cymru/forest-planning-cynllunio-coedwig/usk-glasfynydd-forest-resource-plan.

Alternatively, residents can call 0300 065 3000 and ask to speak with one of the Senior Land Management Officers responsible for the consultations. From there they will be able to send out hard copies of the documents on request.

All feedback and questions will need to be returned by 21 November 2021 at the latest.
